Homecoming: Be Ready!

OSU Homecoming really begins the evening of Friday October 20th. That is the "Walkaround". As long as the weather is perfect like it was last year, this is a really great time for everyone in the family. It is like a little fair - with huge decorations in front of many of the fraternity houses, many booths selling good food and snacks (bring cash with you) and even the International students get into it, with dance exhibits and some pretty good-looking dishes from their native lands. Kids of all ages, friends of kids, parents, grandparents - anyone that can get around will enjoy it. Basically Walkaround begins near dusk, so you don't have to get up to Stillwater super early to enjoy it. On Saturday morning, check out the Parade - which will be broadcast live by the OSU broadcast journalism students and staff. Do not pass up the OSU Parents Association tent - ready for tailgating! Check out the Homecoming information on the OSU Alum site: http://www.orangeconnection.org/ng/spanclassmenuCHomecomingspan/tabid/956/Default.aspx

OSU Parents Pop Up at Picnic Pavilion

Texas heat did not dissuade us...we had shade and a constant breeze! Russell Creek Park turned out to be pleasantly accommodating for the Collin-Dallas OSU Parents Picnic on August 13. Special OSU guests who drove from Stillwater to meet us were Fran Gragg, Parents Association Coordinator and Steve Rogers, Director of OSU Student Health Services. Posted by Picasa

PICNIC August 13!

Calling all OSU Parents! The Collin-Dallas OSU Parents Back-to-School Picnic is set for Sunday, August 13 5:00 pm at the Pavilion in Russell Creek Park, 3500 McDermott Rd. in Plano. Bring a picnic supper & soft drinks for your family and a dessert to share! Along with OSU fun and prizes, other activities are available such as sand volleyball, basketball, playground and a pond for "lite" fishing (fishing license may be needed). Hopefully you got your postcard about the picnic last week in the mail.

You may have also received a letter for OSU Parents Membership renewal. I joined for $35 last year, and the good news is, if I want a Lifetime Membership, last year's dues didn't go to waste. I can just pay $70 this year and it will add up to a Lifetime Membership. For those of us whose students have returned for the 2nd or 3rd year, we can now have more confidence about joining for more than one year. : )

As we know, it's not too late to formulate plans for Homecoming - most people started planning last October. The rest of us are resigned to staying at a hotel in Edmond or hopefully within an hour's drive. Whatever your hotel arrangements, attending the festivities that weekend are WORTH IT and a wonderful family event! I'm talking little kids, parents, grandparents... the walk-around on Friday night is one big fun evening. The OSU Parents Association will be sponsoring a hospitality tent before each home football game. Tailgating is truly an art at OSU football games, you just have to see it.

Wow, so much to look forward to...see y'all!
